For years, Al & Barbara Hutchins shared a love of fabric and quilting. They often worked together to piece quilt tops for friends and family.
Then in 2005, Al decided to take the next step of turning his passion into a new career by purchasing a longarm quilting machine. He did extensive research and with his engineering background, he was naturally drawn to Gammill’s Statler Stitcher. His enthusiasm for this amazing machine and software impelled him to learn as much as possible about Precision Stitch and Auto Sketch.
When Creative Studio was on the horizon, he was invited to be an Alpha tester and participated in the development of this revolutionary software. He officially became Gammill’s first Certified Creative Studio Instructor in March, 2008.
Quilting is our passion and we understand how precious your quilt top is to you. We would be honored to work with you to design and apply a beautiful quilting pattern that will perfectly complement your quilt top.
Whether you have a small wall-hanging or a large king-size quilt, and if you would like a simple edge-to-edge pantograph or complex custom design, our goal is to fulfill your hearts’ desire.
We offer computer-assisted designs, custom free motion designs, and edge-to-edge pantographs. Our computer-assisted collection has over 3,000 designs created by such master quilt designers as Kim Diamond, Deb Geissler, Tammy Finkler, Kay Oft, Christy Dillon, Vicki Maleski and many others.
Al enjoys teaching Creative Studio and has met many wonderful quilters throughout the U. S. in the process. While teaching, he discovered the need for an instructional video that would be a helpful resource for those using Creative Studio. Al worked diligently to create “Understanding Creative Studio” the set of 3 instructional DVD’s that were made available to the public in December, 2008.
Al and Barbara enjoy living near their son, Dan and his wife Jen and their little grandson, Noah in Lee’s Summit, MO. They also have a lovely daughter who lives in New York and another great son who lives in Washington.
